1)After the first 4 Brachos of Birchas HaMazon are recited, the "HaRachaman" requests are recited.
These HaRachamans are said even on Shabbos. Even though we usually do not ask Bakashos, requests, on Shabbos, the HaRachamans have become part of the text of the Birchas HaMazon and aren’t considered requests. (Mishna Berura Siman 188:9. The Gaon of Vilna, however, was of the opinion that the HaRachamans should not be said on Shabbos, as he held it was still considered Bakashos)
2) It is for this reason that the HaRachamans are not considered a Hefsek between the Birchas HaMazon and the drinking of the cup of wine on which Birchas HaMazon was recited, as it has become a part of the Birchas HaMazon. (Shulchan Aruch HaRav 189:7)
After each HaRachaman that you hear someone recite, Amen should be answered (Mishna Berura Siman 189:5)
QUESTION & ANSWER CORNER:
Reader Submitted Questions of interest on topics related to Halachos we covered, as well as other interesting topic and Answers. Taken from the Q & A page on the Halacha For Todaywebsite.
Although the answers I give to questions are taken directly from the Sifrei HaPoskim, and aren’t my own, they are still for study purposes only, NOT for Psak Halacha.
I’m planning my friend’s bridal shower and one of the activities that Iintended to do was have a race of who can construct a miniature chupa out of food such as (pretzels and jelly beans...) is this type of activity considered Bizui Ochlin? (especially because i’m sure noone will eat the chupa after it is made)
Many of these types of races are done at carnivals so I never thought it might be an issue until I read the halacha.
Answer:
If any of the foods used will become inedible, you should in fact not use them for this [or any] game.
If, however, they are foods that can still be eaten (hard candies, licorice etc.) then there possibly may be leniencies.
The fact that something "is done" by many people, doesn’t mean that it is a permitted activity.
A Rav should be consulted for Halacha L’ma’aseh.
Our holy sages, the Chazal tell us
תנא דבי אליהו כל השונה הלכות בכל יום מובטח לו שהוא בן עולם הבא, שנאמר הליכות עולם לו, אל תקרי הליכות אלא הלכות - one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba - the world to come. (:מגילה כ"ח )
