1)Kibud Av V’Eim, honoring ones parents, is broken
down into a few categories.
The two
primary categories are "Kavod, respect" and Yirah,
fear or awe" for parents, and it is extremely important to be careful to
properly respect ones parents and treat them with awe.
According
to many Rishonim, the Mitzvah of "Kibud" and the Mitzvah of "Yirah" are
two distinct Mitzvos.
"Kibud" is
generally accomplished by "doing" things for them, as we will B’Ezras
Hashem detail in the coming days.
"Yirah" is
generally displayed by "not doing" certain things and by generally
having certain feelings and thoughts regarding ones parents, and this
too we will elaborate on in the coming days B’Ezras Hashem.
2) What
constitutes "Awe"?
The
Rambam (Sefer HaMitzvos Mitzvah 211) writes "One must
fear their parents the way one fears someone, like a king, who is able
to mete out punishment. One must act with his/her parents the way one
acts when in the presence of one who is feared..."

Although the answers I give to
questions are taken directly from the Sifrei HaPoskim, and aren’t my
own, they are still for study purposes only, NOT for Psak Halacha.
I have a physical
disability. I normally daven either at home or at my office, do I
fulfill the Mitzvah?
Answer:
First of all,
may Hashem grant you the strength to persevere and the fortitude to
overcome your challenges. Mashiach is on the way, and with his arrival,
all disabilities will be cured iy"H!
Yes, of course you fulfill the Mitzvah of Tefilah, as in
your particular situation it is too difficult or impossible to alwas
make it to Shul. The best thing for you to do is to try and daven
Shemona Esrei at the same time as your shul does, so you will also have
"Tefilah B’Tzibbur" in that manner.
Another alternative is to daven K’Vasikin (when
possible) as in many instances it’s more ideal to daven then at home
than later on with a Tzibbur.
Our holy sages, the Chazal tell us
תנא דבי אליהו כל השונה הלכות בכל
יום מובטח לו שהוא בן עולם הבא, שנאמר הליכות עולם לו, אל תקרי הליכות
אלא הלכות -
one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in
Olam Haba - the world to come. (Talmud
Niddah 73a)
